Description

In this session, Jan Kovarik will describe how Alcon are collaborating closely with some of their largest customers in order to develop an outside-in approach to their supply chain planning strategy and putting customer needs first in order to more closely serve demand patterns and optimise supply chain performance. Following a 5 year overhaul of Alcon's ERP system, the foundations were laid for Alcon to level up their S&OP strategy and achieve greater integration between functions in order to reduce cost and create forecasts that serve the whole organisation. Amidst the disruption of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Alcon began the work to build closer ties with their largest customers in order to feed their planning strategy with more accurate and up to date external data, enabling planners to respond with speed and agility to changes in consumer behaviour and trigger the appropriate responses throughout the supply chain. Finally, Jan will describe how this close external collaboration is serving Alcon in their wider digitisation strategy by taking customers on the same journey and ensuring that capabilities continue to develop at speed.
